BELGRADE - The leaders of four opposition parties in the Serbian parliament said at a joint press conference on Tuesday an EU proposal for resolving the Kosovo-Metohija issue must be rejected as it envisioned a secession of Serbia's southern province.
New Democratic Party of Serbia leader Milos Jovanovic said accepting the French-German plan would mean that Kosovo-Metohija would be surrendered forever and Serbian history erased.
He said the proposal should have been rejected immediately and added that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic should resign in case he was unable to do so.
Dveri Movement leader Bosko Obradovic said the parties were calling for Vucic's resignation as he had broken his presidential oath of office as well as promises that he would defend Kosovo-Metohija as an integral part of Serbia.
Obradovic added that, by not rejecting the EU proposal, the president had lost the legitimacy to represent the country and that, for that reason, the four parties were calling for early presidential and parliamentary elections.
Serbian Oathkeepers leader Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski said her party was offering democratic means of resolving challenges and that it would organise a large pro-family and pro-national rally in Belgrade in case the government rejected those means.
She said the rally would be a response and a barrier to a policy of surrendering the entire state in exchange for a Community of Serb Municipalities.
The president of the Movement for Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia Vojislav Mihailovic said accepting the EU plan would border on treason as its Article 4 stipulated that Serbia would not oppose an admission of the false state of Kosovo to international organisations.
He said Serbia would face major consequences in case the French-German plan was signed on March 18 and that early presidential and parliamentary elections were the only way out of the present situation.
