TAORMINA - On the sidelines of a ministerial meeting in Taormina, Italy, Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Maltese Deputy PM and FM Ian Borg, whom he thanked for Malta's principled support for Serbia in the EU integration process as well as for its consistent advocacy of the EU enlargement policy.
Djuric noted that Serbia's EU path was a strategic priority and that messages he had heard at a meeting of European countries earlier in the day were encouraging for Serbia as well as for the Western Balkan region, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
Djuric highlighted the significance of Serbia's cooperation with the Council of Europe and expressed the expectation Malta's presidency over the organisation would be a strong impetus to further cooperation on advancement of reform processes in Serbia and carrying out joint projects that would provide direct benefits to Serbian citizens.
The ministers agreed there was a need to deepen bilateral cooperation, especially in the economy.
They stressed the significance of continued political dialogue and cooperation aimed at strengthening overall bilateral relations.
They also highlighted a great potential for advancement of cooperation in tourism.
