CAIRO - At the beginning of a two-day official visit to Egypt, Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic met with Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss possibilities for further advancement of bilateral cooperation in interior affairs, especially in fighting all forms of crime, terrorism and illegal migration.
Dacic and Tawfik signed a MoU between their ministries on cooperation in fighting crime, lending an additional impetus to establishing cooperation also when it comes to the fight against serious forms of crime and terrorism, the Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Dacic highlighted the significance of cooperation between the two ministries within international institutions such as Interpol and the International Civil Defence Organisation.
He expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to Serbia by the relevant Egyptian institutions during a recent evacuation of Serbian nationals from Israel, and invited Tawfik to visit Serbia.
