BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic on Monday received Uzbekistan's newly-appointed non-resident ambassador to Belgrade Oybek Shahavdinov, who is based in Budapest.
Dacic stressed that Uzbekistan was a major partner to Serbia in the Central Asia region and noted that there was potential to advance the cooperation in interior affairs, as well as across a wider scope of bilateral relations, the Interior Ministry said in a statement released after the Palace of Serbia meeting.
The parties agreed there was space to enhance police cooperation, especially in the field of fighting organised crime and other forms of crime.
Dacic wished Shahavdinov that he may have a successful tenure in Serbia and expressed the belief the ambassador's engagement would lend a major contribution to further development of Serbia-Uzbekistan relations.
