Meloni: Boosting cooperation with Serbia discussed with Vucic

ROME - Italian PM Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday her meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Tuesday had addressed strengthening of Italy-Serbia cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.

"We discussed the excellent level of bilateral relations, with a view to further strengthening the cooperation between Italy and Serbia in all areas of mutual interest, and explored key international and regional issues, confirming our commitment to stability and security in the Western Balkans," Meloni posted on Instagram.

She added that the meeting with Vucic had been an opportunity to renew Italy's full support for Serbia's EU integration process and associated reforms.

On Tuesday evening, Vucic said Meloni's visit had been in the spirit of sincere partnership, and expressed the confidence the relations between the two countries would continue to strengthen in mutual interest and with full mutual respect.

Vucic, who also hosted a working dinner for Meloni, thanked the Italian PM for her country's principled support for Serbia, especially when it comes to EU integration and EXPO 2027.

"Serbia and Italy stand shoulder to shoulder on the path of development and stability of the entire region," Vucic noted.
