Djuric: Osmani's statements show she stands in opposition to US policy

NEW YORK - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Tuesday false claims by the so-called Kosovo's president, Vjosa Osmani, that Serbia had planned to attack the so-called Kosovo had already been debunked by Richard Grenell, one of US President Donald Trump's closest allies, and noted that such claims showed that Osmani stood in opposition to the very policies of the US and Trump that she pretended to embrace.

"Vjosa Osmani used her Fox News interview this morning to spread a string of falsehoods in an attempt to portray her government as something it simply is not. She falsely claimed that Serbia has ever planned an 'attack' or any form of aggression," Djuric posted on X.

"That accusation has already been publicly debunked — including by Ambassador Richard Grenell, one of US President Donald Trump's closest allies. Such claims show that Osmani stands in opposition to the very policies of President Trump and of the United States that she pretends to embrace.

It is precisely for that reason that the US administration led by President Trump has suspended indefinitely the strategic dialogue between the US and 'Kosovo'. A small detail she 'forgot' to mention.

The so-called 'government of Kosovo' has in fact been the most openly anti-Trump government in Europe — acting not only against American policy but also against the very values Europe stands for.

And her government’s idea of 'supporting' President Trump? Attending the Democratic Convention in the middle of a US election campaign. If that isn’t a textbook example of foreign meddling and political duplicity, it’s hard to imagine what is," Djuric noted.

In the Fox News interview, Osmani reiterated an allegation the Trump administration had prevented destabilising actions by Belgrade towards the so-called Kosovo, including, as she claimed, as recently as in May this year.

In previous comments on Trump's statement that he had prevented a Belgrade-Pristina conflict, Osmani has also claimed this was not about "past events, but a current security threat," after which Grenell, a former US special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, said Osmani was manipulating with Trump's statements.
