BELGRADE - Serbia's First Deputy PM and Finance Minister Sinisa Mali met with Hungarian FM Peter Szijjarto in Belgrade on Tuesday to discuss cooperation on joint projects and building a Novi Sad-Algyo oil pipeline, whose construction is due to begin by the end of this year.
"We focused on strengthening the economic ties, ensuring energy stability, development of joint infrastructure projects and advancement of border crossings, including establishing green lanes at the Kelebija-Tompa and Horgos-Roszke crossings," Mali posted on Instagram.
He noted that the priorities included building a new gas pipeline from Horgos to Pojate, development of a Pannonian electricity corridor and setting up a Serbia-Hungary-Slovenia electricity exchange.
Completing the modernisation of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail line, which will further connect the two countries, also has special significance, Mali added.
"I thanked Szijjarto for Hungary's confirmed participation in EXPO 2027, a large event that will be the convergence point of business opportunities for the entire region," Mali noted.
"I can proudly say that Serbia-Hungary relations are on the highest, friendly level and that I believe the cooperation with that friendly country holds huge potential for further development. This is exactly what one of our priorities in the coming period will be," Mali concluded.
