BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Liberian FM Sara Beysolow Njanti in Belgrade on Wednesday to discuss strengthening of bilateral cooperation and creating new possibilities for partnerships.
Nyanti is on her first visit to Serbia.
Djuric noted that Serbia and Liberia were connected by years-long friendship and cooperation dating back from the era of the Non-Aligned Movement and that Liberia had been one of the first countries in Sub-Saharan Africa with which Serbia had established diplomatic relations, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.
He noted that Serbia maintained a lasting commitment to strengthening political dialogue and comprehensive cooperation, with exchanges of regular visits and contacts at high and the highest level.
Speaking about foreign policy priorities, Djuric said Serbia would continue to develop good and balanced relations with both the East and the West, cherishing its traditional friendships.
Serbia remains committed to dialogue, preservation of peace and strengthening of cooperation in the region, which represents a foundation of stability and progress, he added.
Highlighting the significant economic results achieved by Serbia, Djuric said reforms in recent years had enabled public finances to stabilise and made it possible to create a favourable environment for foreign investments.
In that context, he expressed Serbia's readiness to share its experiences with Liberia to boost economic cooperation and create new possibilities for partnerships.
Djuric noted that Serbia attached special significance to cooperation and institutional ties between the two MFAs and was interested in holding regular political consultations.
He said the agriculture, health care, education, tourism and energy sectors held major potential for advancement of bilateral cooperation.
