BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received on Wednesday the credentials of new Egyptian Ambassador to Belgrade Ahmed Salam Suleyman, wishing him a successful tenure in Serbia and noting that Serbia-Egypt relations were characterised by trust and a strategic partnership.

In a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account, Vucic wrote that the strategic partnership had been confirmed by a joint declaration in 2022 and strengthened further in recent years by intensive dialogue and high-level visits.

"I believe the FTA and other agreed instruments will lend a strong momentum to trade, investments and joint projects, along with the work of a joint commission on economic cooperation," Vucic added.

At the meeting, Vucic said Serbia respected Egypt's constructive role in regional stability and supported efforts towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, in line with international law.

He noted that he was especially pleased Egypt would participate in EXPO 2027 Belgrade and that relaunching direct flights between Belgrade and Cairo would bring the people and the economies of the two countries even closer.

Vucic said Serbia was open to deepening cooperation in energy and green technologies, agriculture and the food industry, tourism, air transport, IT, education and culture, as well as to further strengthening of defence cooperation.

"I am confident that, with his work, the ambassador will further deepen the ties between Serbia and Egypt, and Serbia will be an open and hospitable host to him," Vucic added.
