BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday he had had an open and constructive discussion with Gazprom Neft Management Board Chairman Alexander Dyukov and Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin about Serbia's Russian-majority owned oil company NIS, now under US sanctions.
"We have just finished important discussions with the Russian delegation about NIS, the energy sector in Serbia, and I am pleased with the openness, constructiveness and sincerity of the discussions. We were all just that," Vucic said in a video posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.
He said there would be no shortages of oil or oil derivatives.
"Uneasy times and an uneasy burden are ahead, but what I can tell the Serbian citizens is: there will be no shortages of oil or oil derivatives or any major energy crisis in Serbia. Our Russian friends understood our message, and we understood what their interests are," Vucic said, adding that the Serbian government would do everything that was in Serbia's best strategic and tactical interest.
