TASHKENT - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday he expected a meeting of a Serbia-Uzbekistan commission on cooperation in January or February and a visit to Belgrade by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in March or April.
"We expect President Mirziyoyev to come to Belgrade in March or April and I believe we can do a lot together," Vucic told reporters in Tashkent.
Vucic, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan, said a Serbian delegation had been able to see the pace of Uzbekistan's progress.
"China and central Asian countries will make progress at a tremendous pace. They have the 'eye of the tiger', a great desire to work - to work more, and more quickly,'" Vucic said.
He said he had had important meetings in the Uzbek parliament earlier in the day.
"We discussed an expansion of our cooperation, all political aspects of our cooperation, all international forums, organisations and institutions. But, above all, the day was dedicated to progress, advancement and development of our economic cooperation in the industry, especially in the IT sector, the tech domain, and I think we were able to see and learn many things," Vucic said.
He noted that he was glad some Serbian businesspeople had come to Uzbekistan and that many Uzbek businesspeople had attended a Serbia-Uzbekistan business forum in Tashkent.
"I think we were able to learn a lot and that we created the foundations for significant cooperation in the future," Vucic said.
