Vucic, Pellegrini meet in Samarkand

SAMARKAND - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini in Samarkand on Thursday to discuss further strengthening of overall bilateral relations between the two countries, with special emphasis on cooperation in the energy sector.
"A friendly and substantial discussion with President Pellegirni in Samarkand. Besides topics such as new technologies, education and cultural heritage, we also exchanged views on further strengthening of overall bilateral relations between Serbia and Slovakia, with special emphasis on cooperation in the energy sector, economic development and a joint contribution to regional stability and prosperity," Vucic posted on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.
At the meeting, held before the 43rd UNESCO General Conference session, they also discussed the position of Serbia's Slovak minority and its contribution to bilateral relations.
"I am especially grateful to Slovakia for its principled and continued support for our territorial integrity and European path. I noted the significance of mutual trust and cooperation in confronting contemporary challenges in the region and at global level alike, as well as a need to contribute to better life for the citizens of both countries through joint initiatives," Vucic wrote.
He added that Serbia and Slovakia were friendly countries connected by sincere understanding and a shared vision of peace, progress and stability in Europe.
"I am confident that today's discussion will strengthen that partnership further and open up new possibilities for future projects of mutual interest. I also took this opportunity to invite President Pellegrini to visit Serbia, which he accepted," Vucic posted.
