Gasic receives Egyptian ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met with new Egyptian Ambassador to Belgrade Ahmed Salam Suleiman on Monday to discuss defence cooperation and advancement of overall bilateral relations.

Wishing the ambassador success during his tenure in Belgrade, Gasic noted that Serbia and Egypt had maintained friendly relations for more than a hundred years now and that the relations were a quality foundation for development of cooperation in defence, and that the exceptionally friendly relationship between Presidents Aleksandar Vucic and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had helped to strengthen and develop the overall cooperation between the two countries, the Serbian MoD said in a statement.

He said he was pleased with the level and the number of activities carried out under the auspices of a Serbian-Egyptian military committee and a committee on military technology and noted that the activities were indicators of firm and friendly bilateral relations.

The parties agreed that the quality of defence cooperation to date had been good but that there was space to advance it further, and the ambassador thanked Gasic for an opportunity to discuss development and advancement of the cooperation.
