Brnabic: 2025 was year of turmoil for parliament but will end with good debate

NIS - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Friday 2025 had been a year of turmoil for the parliament but would end in the best possible way - with a good, constructive debate involving the ruling coalition, the opposition and civil society.

"We have normal work of the Serbian parliament, a good debate and, at the end of the day, some things that we are doing together, which is always good. Since we passed the amendments to the law on the unified electoral roll, we have been in a stage of setting up a commission for insight into the electoral roll, and for analysis and review of the electoral roll, which is where we really have very good cooperation. We already have some groups of opposition MPs that have named their candidates, while the civil sector, CRTA and CeSID have named their own," Brnabic told reporters in Nis when asked to assess the work of the parliament.

She said cooperation with the opposition and civil society brought stability to the country.

"Compared to how we started, we are really finishing this year in the best possible way. We have managed to agree on certain things after all, and to have cooperation with both the opposition and the civil sector, which is good for Serbia. That means stability, that means predictability," Brnabic said.
