BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Thursday evening a man suspected of committing a war crime against civilians as a member of the so-called "Kosovo Liberation Army" had been arrested at the Batrovci border crossing.
"In collaboration with the Security Information Agency, personnel of the Interior Ministry, the Criminal Police Administration and the Service for uncovering war crimes arrested M L, 46, from Pec at the Batrovci border crossing, on suspicion of committing a war crime against civilian population," Dacic said in an Interior Ministry statement.
Dacic explained that M L was suspected of undergoing selective training as a "KLA" member and then participating in terrorist attacks on Serbian police and Yugoslav Army troops in 1998 and 1999.
"As a member of a group under Ramus Haradinaj's command, he took part in kidnappings and brutal killings of police officers," Dacic said.
He added that the suspect had been placed in 48-hour detention and would be arraigned before the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes to face charges.
