MUNICH - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Friday in Munich with Chinese FM Wang Yi to discuss key global security challenges that were the focus of this year's Munich Security Conference, as well as preservation of peace.
In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that they had also discussed the stability of the international order and a need for open dialogue amid growing geopolitical tensions.
"I noted that Serbia-China relations are based on a steely friendship, mutual respect and a comprehensive strategic partnership we have built together with the president of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping," Vucic posted.
He noted that a commitment to further advancement of cooperation in investments, energy, the digital economy and innovation had been confirmed at the meeting, besides a commitment to contributing, through open dialogue, to stability in the Western Balkans and broader global peace.
Vucic added that Serbia remained a dependable European partner to China and that it would continue to pursue a responsible and independent policy based on the principles of international law and preservation of peace.
"I sent my regards to President Xi and thanked him for his personal contribution to and support for our country's economic development. I am gladly preparing for our upcoming meeting in China, during an upcoming official visit," Vucic concluded.
Vucic and Wang met on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
Vucic, Goldman Sachs's Cohen discuss economic flows amid increased geopolitical risks
MUNICH - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Goldman Sachs President of Global Operations Jared Cohen on Friday in Munich to discuss economic flows amid increased geopolitical risks, the impact of security challenges on financial markets and the outlook for growth of European economies in the coming period.
Vucic and Cohen met on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference. In an Instagram post, Vucic wrote that they had also discussed strategic global trends that were the focus of this year's conference.
"I noted that Serbia remains committed to a responsible fiscal policy, reforms and strengthening of the investment environment while being open to cooperation with the leading global financial institutions," Vucic added.
Earlier, Vucic also met with Chinese FM Wang Yi and European Council President Antonio Costa
Vucic arrives in Munich for Munich Security Conference
MUNICH - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has arrived in Munich, where he will attend the Munich Security Conference.
While in Munich, Vucic will hold a series of bilateral meetings with world and European officials, including Chinese FM Wang Yi, European Council President Antonio Costa and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
Vucic will also meet with a delegation of US Senate members headed by Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
The February 13-15 conference will bring together more than 1,000 participants from over 115 countries, including 60 heads of state and government, a hundred FMs and officials of major international organisations, including top officials of the EU and NATO, the ASEAN, the OSCE, the World Bank, the World Trade Organisation and numerous UN agencies.
