BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met with Malawian FM George Chaponda in Belgrade on Thursday to discuss strengthening of bilateral relations and deepening of cooperation.
"The interlocutors agreed that Serbia and Malawi are connected by decades of friendship and close cooperation in the Non-Aligned Movement, and that it is important for both countries to improve relations in various areas in the coming period," the Serbian government said in a statement.
"The Prime Minister emphasised that Serbia and Malawi share the view on the importance of respecting international law and the UN Charter.
The interlocutors noted that there is room for improving relations in agriculture, education, science, culture, tourism and sports.
The Prime Minister added that students from Malawi, through the World in Serbia programme, have the opportunity to study at universities in Serbia, which, as he stated, is another opportunity to improve relations between the two countries in the field of education.
Chaponda emphasised that Malawi is committed to deepening the cooperation with Serbia," it also said.
