BELGRADE - Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Gen Milan Mojsilovic met with KFOR Commander Maj Gen Ozkan Ulutas in Belgrade on Saturday to discuss the security situation in the autonomous province of Kosovo-Metohija and activities being undertaken by the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR to monitor the situation on the ground and prevent the crisis from escalating further.

"In light of the announced commencement of the implementation of the controversial law on foreigners and vehicles adopted by the Provisional Institutions in Pristina, it was assessed that the security situation in the Province remains sensitive and fragile, and that it is extremely important for KFOR, as the sole legitimate armed formation in Kosovo-Metohija, to increase its vigilance and take the necessary measures to preserve peace and stability and to protect Serbs, as the most vulnerable part of the population," the Serbian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

"General Mojsilovic noted that the unilateral actions of the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Pristina, as well as its efforts to transform the so-called Kosovo Security Force into regular armed forces, are in contradiction to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and all previously signed agreements. He assessed that such actions are provocative and have a negative impact on the security situation both in the Province and across the region," the ministry also said.
