BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut said on Monday national councils were the best promoters of the activities of all national minorities and that they offered a possibility for educational and cultural activities by members of national minorities living in Serbia.
Ahead of a session of the Council for National Minorities, Macut said elections for national minority councils were due this year.
"This year is exceptionally important because of the upcoming elections for the national minority councils, and I think that is also the best way for us to demonstrate democratic principles, transparency, as well as inclusiveness in the process," Macut said.
He said he hoped the good, fruitful and very constructive cooperation with all national minorities would be continued and thanked Minister for Human and Minority Rights Demo Berisa for his engagement in dialogue with national councils.
Macut also said the session was a way to advance the cooperation with national councils.
