Vucic: Army a strong, dependable pillar of security, peace

BELGRADE - Today, the Serbian Armed Forces represent a strong and dependable pillar of security and peace in Serbia, and a symbol of the country's strength and support to all citizens, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday, congratulating Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Gen Milan Mojsilovic and all members of the army on Serbian Armed Forces Day.
"On occasion of April 23, Serbian Armed Forces Day, I extend sincere congratulations to all members of our army, with deep respect for your level of training, your discipline, courage and dedication. Today, the Serbian Armed Forces represent a strong and dependable pillar of security and peace in our country, and a symbol of the state's strength and support to all citizens. Your degree of training, your professionalism and preparedness to respond efficiently to contemporary security challenges is confirmed on a daily basis as you execute daily tasks in the country, as well as in international missions and joint exercises," Vucic wrote in a congratulatory message.
The Republic of Serbia remains committed to further development and strengthening of its army, being aware that it is crucial for security, stability and progress in the country, he added.
By investing continuously in equipment, infrastructure, training and advancement of the material position of Serbian Armed Forces members, Serbia is demonstrating a permanent commitment to a stronger and more efficient defence system, as well as to creating better living conditions and better conditions for professional development, Vucic noted.
"I congratulate you on your holiday in the confidence that, by preserving what has shaped us throughout history and by relying on knowledge, contemporary standards and modernisation, we will continue to build strong Serbian Armed Forces in the interest of the state and the generations to come. Long live the Serbian Armed Forces! Long live Serbia!" Vucic concluded.
The Serbian Armed Forces Day is marked on April 23, the date when the Second Serbian Uprising began in 1815, representing a turning point in the creation of a modern Serbian state and army.
