Djuric condemns Washington attack on Trump

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric has strongly condemned Saturday's attack on US President Donald Trump in Washington.

"I join President Vucic in strongly condemning last night’s attack in Washington, D C. Political violence must never be tolerated," Djuric posted on X on Sunday.

"Serbia stands with the United States and the American people," he added.

Earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic vehemently condemned the armed assault on Trump and his family.

"I received news of the shooting with deep concern, but also relief that US President Donald Trump, other dignitaries, and journalists present were unharmed. Political violence is the epitome of cowardice. It undermines nations and deepens existing divisions," Vucic posted on his X account.

"The fact that this incident follows two prior attacks on President Trump is especially alarming. It raises serious questions about the message behind such acts and must be treated as a clear warning.

At a time when the world is already facing too much violence, Serbia firmly opposes all forms of it and promotes dialogue as the cornerstone of any true democracy and the only viable path to resolving disagreements," he concluded.
