BELGRADE - Speaking to reporters after consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Serbian Renewal Movement leader Aleksandar Cvetkovic said the party believed elections were always the solution to any crisis but that the state interest had to be defined, and noted that dialogue among all political factors was a necessity.
Cvetkovic said his party's representatives had discussed with Vucic public demands for early parliamentary elections, as well as Serbia's geostrategic position regarding the EU in light of current global developments.
He said the Serbian Renewal Movement was aware of "tectonic" changes that were taking place globally and noted that Serbia had always been the number one priority to the party.
"By saying 'the state' and 'state interest', I mean that we are all the state. I think that is the message we can send to all citizens - that all of us are the state of Serbia," Cvetkovic said.
He said a decision on whether and when elections would be held was in the hands of the relevant decision-makers, and added that the party representatives had told Vucic that dialogue among all political factors was a necessity.
Cvetkovic added that they had had an open discussion with Vucic about the EU and that they had noted that Serbia should become a full-fledged EU member state.
