YEREVAN - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said on Tuesday in Yerevan, where he is attending the Yerevan Dialogue 2026 conference, that a policy of principles, national interests and adaptability was the essence of Serbia's policy in the current era of unprecedented changes.

Speaking to reporters after attending a panel discussion on EU enlargement and European integration, Djuric said he was not referring only to social media networks and artificial intelligence - which he noted was equivalent to the Industrial Revolution - but also to a full rearrangement of the global geopolitical order and a global power shift.

In those circumstances, Serbia stands by its interests, the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and the principle of adapting to such circumstances in keeping with values and national interests, he said.

"There were also questions about Serbia's participation in commemorations of the anniversary of the victory in WWII. My response to that was that Serbia is proud of its anti-fascist struggle. We are a nation that suffered millions of casualties to defeat the Nazi occupier, to defeat fascism in Europe, and we are always ready to say 'thank you' to all past generations, anywhere," Djuric said.

He noted that, at the same time, Serbia was proud Belgrade was a meeting point where certain conflicts and problems could be resolved in the future.

"We also have our national policy, the policy of safeguarding our territorial integrity. Why would Serbia's territorial integrity be worth less than the territorial integrity of any other country? That is a question raised quite regularly by President Vucic at conferences like these. It is a question that I, too, have been raising in my capacity as FM, and so has PM Macut. Let's not have double standards for Serbia," Djuric said.
