BELGRADE - Serbian PM Djuro Macut met on Wednesday with the president of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), Daniela Cristina Ghitulica, to discuss improvement of the higher education system and further alignment with European standards in the field of quality assurance.
"Macut emphasised that the government remains committed to improving the education system, advancing science and creating conditions for better integration of universities with international academic communities," a government statement said.
"He noted that improving the quality of higher education and strengthening the capacities of Serbia’s universities are key prerequisites for the country’s long-term development, and that full membership in ENQA will be an important step in that process and an additional incentive to retain young professionals in the country.
Ghitulica stressed that ENQA supports Serbia’s commitment to further improving the quality of higher education in line with European standards," it also said.
The meeting was also attended by Serbian Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stankovic, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Bela Balint and the Director of the National Entity for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (NEAQA), Nebojsa Zdravkovic.
