BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni on Thursday to discuss further advancement of Serbia-Greece cooperation in culture, protection of cultural heritage and establishment of inter-institutional cooperation between similar cultural institutions.

"We especially discussed opportunities for implementing joint projects, experience-sharing in protection of cultural heritage, and I personally expressed gratitude for the most important Serbian relics that have arrived in Belgrade from the Imperial Serbian Lavra, the Hilandar monastery, for an exhibition marking 850 years since the birth of Saint Sava," Vucic posted on Instagram.

He said Serbia and Greece shared a sincere friendship and mutual respect that represented a firm foundation for further deepening of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Vucic also noted the significance of preserving Serbian cultural and religious heritage in Greece and thanked the country for its care for and dedication to Serbian holy sites, especially the Hilandar monastery.

"I also highlighted the importance our country attaches to Greece's continued support for Serbia's EU path," he posted.

He added that they had also discussed the role of culture as a bridge between nations and an important factor in preserving identity, dialogue and stability in times of major global challenges.

Vucic said he was confident Greece's participation in EXPO 2027 would be an additional opportunity for forging ties between Serbia and Greece and between the two nations.
