Drecun: Destabilisation aimed at getting Belgrade to give up on Community

BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo-Metohija Milovan Drecun said on Wednesday a destabilisation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue was aimed at pressuring Serbia into recognising the false state of "Kosovo" and into giving up on a Community of Serb Municipalities as defined by the Brussels Agreement.

In a statement to Tanjug, Drecun said the destabilisation was well-planned and that at least some Quint states were supporting Pristina in it.

"Already after the Ohrid meeting, when they were unable to make Aleksandar Vucic accept an agreement proposed by the EU and two crucial points that would be a de facto recognition of the false state of 'Kosovo' and its membership in international organisations, it was clear that everything would start developing in an extremely negative direction," Drecun said.

It became clear that a completely different attitude would be taken towards Belgrade and that Pristina would be rewarded for undermining the dialogue, as well as that Belgrade would be punished for its constructive approach to it, he said.

That is what is going on right now, because this is a well-planned hybrid operation by Albin Kurti and some Western states that has two objectives, Drecun said.

He explained that one of the objectives was to "abandon the current form of dialogue because it was not discussions between two states, but between Belgrade and Pristina, and the EU proposal treats Kosovo as a state, abandoning a status-neutral form of discussions," Drecun said.

He said the other objective was to force Belgrade to give up on Brussels deals, especially those from 2013 and 2015, and to go to new talks on the Community of Serb Municipalities.
