BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with newly-appointed head of the Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Serbia Janos Babity on Friday to discuss cooperation to date and continuation of cooperation with the CoE on existing as well as new programmes.
Welcoming Babity, Brnabic noted that there was ample space for advancement of cooperation in numerous fields, the government press bureau said in a statement.
Brnabic conveyed to Babity Serbia's position that a CoE membership application submitted by the so-called "Kosovo" was unacceptable, and thanked all CoE member states that had shown understanding for Serbia's stance.
Babity thanked the Serbian government for its constructive cooperation with the CoE Office to date and noted that the objective of his tenure was to continue existing and begin new programmes of cooperation.
He highlighted an opportunity to deepen the cooperation in the fields of human rights, education as well as environmental protection, where implementation of CoE expertise would bring benefits to Serbian citizens, the statement said.
