Vucic, Lips discuss issues burdening Serbia-Germany relations

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with German MP Patricia Lips in Belgrade on Monday for an open discussion about all issues currently burdening the otherwise excellent Serbia-Germany relations as well as about strengthening of bilateral cooperation in many areas.

Lips is the CDU/CSU deputy whip in the German Bundestag and is in charge of European policy and human rights affairs.

"I clarified Serbia's positions on shared topics of interest and noted Serbia's commitment to European integration as well as to further strengthening of economic and bilateral relations with Germany, about which I have had excellent discussions with Friedrich Merz, the CSU president in Munich, as well as with Bavarian Minister-President Marcus Soder during his recent visit to our country," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

Vucic added that the discussion topics had, of course, included reforms in all areas of importance for Serbia's EU path, in particular in rule of law and advancement of democratic processes, to which he noted Serbia was sincerely committed.
