Dacic: Gendarmerie has convinced people it will not back down in fight against crime

BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic attended a Gendarmerie Day ceremony at the Diving Unit Base in New Belgrade on Thursday.

Dacic said the Gendarmerie had convinced the people it would not back down in the fight against crime and all challenges that could potentially threaten national security.

"We will continue to modernise your unit, and we expect from you to keep doing your best. The citizens of Serbia are entitled to get the very best and that is what they will get," Dacic told Gendarmerie members.

Today, the role of the Gendarmerie is more important than ever before, he said.
