BELGRADE - The Serbia men's national basketball team has qualified for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup after beating Great Britain 101-83 (28-20, 18-21, 28-19, 27-23) in a decisive qualifying game in Belgrade on Monday evening.
At a packed Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, Aleksa Avramovic led Serbia to victory with 20 points, Luka Mitrovic scored 15 points and Ognjen Dobric, Marko Guduric and Filip Petrusev added 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Quinn Ellis excelled for the visitors with 22 points and Carl Wheatle had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Latvia have finished on top of Qualifying Group I with 19 points and Serbia and Greece are in second and third place, respectively, with 16 points each.
The three teams have qualified for the World Cup, to be held in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines from August 25 through September 10.
