Spartak stun Red Star to reach Serbian basketball league final

SUBOTICA - Spartak Subotica are through to the Serbian basketball Superliga final after beating defending champions Red Star Belgrade 93-77 (24-12, 22-23, 26-22, 21-20) at home on Monday evening and winning the semi-final series 2-0.

It is the best-ever result for Spartak, who won the first game of the series 93-81, while Red Star, who have won nine consecutive Superliga titles, will not be in the final after 14 years.

Luka Cerovina led the scoring for Spartak with 24 points, Dusan Miletic scored 21 and Stefan Momirov and Nemanja Gordic added 20 and 18 points, respectively.

Ognjen Dobric stood out for Red Star with 17 points, Filip Petrusev scored 15 and Nemanja Nedovic and Nikola Kalinic added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

In the final, Spartak will play the winner of the semi-final series between Partizan and FMP.

Partizan lead 1-0.
