BELGRADE - Serbia's Red Star Belgrade will be playing in the basketball EuroLeague in the next three seasons, the club announced on Thursday.
At a meeting in Barcelona earlier in the day, the EuroLeague Board of Directors approved and made official a contract with Red Star under which the Belgrade Red-and-Whites will be competing in European basketball's top-tier competition in the next three seasons.
Club President Zeljko Drcelic said Red Star would be prepared for the new EuroLeague season, which begins on September 30.
Meanwhile, the EuroLeague Board of Directors announced the competition would feature 20 clubs from next season and that, besides Red Star and Partizan Belgrade, Virtus and Valencia had been granted three-year licences, with Dubai given a five-year licence.
