Legendary Red Star basketball player and football executive Vladimir Cvetkovic dies

BELGRADE - Legendary Red Star (Crvena zvezda) Belgrade basketball player and football executive Vladimir Cvetkovic died on Wednesday at the age of 83.

As a basketball player, Cvetkovic was one of the best in the history of Red Star as well as the Yugoslavia national team, for which he made 149 appearances and scored 1,276 points.

With the national team, he won four silver medals in major competitions.

As secretary general of Serbian football giants Red Star Belgrade, Cvetkovic, alongside Dragan Dzajic, was instrumental in assembling the team that won the European Cup and the International Cup in 1991.
