Spartak Subotica overcome FMP to become Serbian basketball champions

NIS - Spartak Subotica beat FMP Belgrade 76-73 (24-19, 17-15, 22-16, 5-18, 8-5) after overtime in the final of the F4 tournament of the Serbian men's basketball league (KLS) in Nis on Sunday to win the championship title for the first time in club history.

Olivier Hanlan led the scoring for Spartak, but FMP's Filip Barna, who stood out for his team with 27 points and eight rebounds, was named MVP of the tournament.

For the first time since it became an independent state, Serbia has basketball champions that are neither Red Star nor Partizan.

In the semi-finals, FMP knocked out Partizan and Spartak knocked out Red Star.
