MANILA - The Serbia men's national basketball team won the silver medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup after an 83-77 (23-26, 24-21, 22-10, 14-20) defeat to Germany in the competition's final in Manila on Sunday.
Aleksa Avramovic led the scoring for Serbia with 21 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 17.
Dennis Schroder stood out for Germany with 28 points and Franz Wagner added 19.
For nearly 38 minutes, Serbia were without Ognjen Dobric, who picked up an injury at the beginning of the first quarter.
Germany claimed their first-ever world cup gold and Canada won the bronze medal by defeating the US 127-118 in the third place game after overtime.
The World Cup was held in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
In 2027, the competition will be hosted by Qatar.
