BELGRADE - During its visit to Serbia, the IMF mission has confirmed our country will have GDP growth of at least 3.5 pct this year, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said Monday.

It is very important that the IMF mission, which ends the visit Tuesday, has confirmed the government forecast in terms of economic growth, Mali said.

He recalled Serbia had had 4.3 pct growth in the past period.

"This year it will be a minimum 3.5 pct, which is very important for the banks' plans. Both the IMF and the World Bank are forecasting Serbia will be the region's fastest-growing economy until 2023," Mali said.

The citizens' living standards will improve significantly because, according to the IMF/WB projection, the GDP per capita, which was around 7,200 dollars in 2018, will be around 10,400 dollars in 2023, which is a 44 pct increase, he said.
