BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday evening the annual volume of Serbia-Germany bilateral trade had reached 8.2-8.3 bln euros and that German companies were employing around 78,000 people in Serbia.
Speaking at the first gala evening hosted by the German-Serbian chamber of commerce (AHK), Vucic said that, by comparison, the volume of bilateral trade had been at around 2 bln euros when he had become PM nine years ago and that the number of Serbians employed by German companies had been 17,500.
He said he hoped German companies would have as many as 100,000 direct employees in Serbia by the end of 2024.
Thanking German partners for their huge support, Vucic said that "we have learned a lot from them about what responsibility, seriousness, commitment and diligence mean when it comes to business."
"For that reason, our country has made even quicker progress than others in the region," Vucic said, noting that "German companies changed our habits."
