CAIRO - Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamocic, who is on his first official visit to Egypt, met with Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, among others, to discuss opportunities for deepening the bilateral cooperation, including agricultural trade and sharing of know-how in modern agricultural technology.
"Egypt has shown great interest in imports of Serbian grains, sunflower oil and other agricultural and food products, as well as in direct investments in the Serbian agricultural sector, and the Serbian side expressed readiness for experience-sharing in digitalisation of the agricultural policy and support for young farmers," the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.
One of the key results of the visit is an agreement on setting up a joint technical commission to analyse the potential for investments in agriculture and prepare a plan for boosting trade and investments in the agricultural sector.
Glamocic also visited the Cairo-based Agricultural Research Center - the leading agricultural science institution on the African continent - which has more than 10,000 researchers.
During a discussion, experiences were exchanged about adapting the agriculture sector to climate change, development of hybrids and organic farming, as well as opportunities for Serbian researchers to get involved in regional projects.
Glamocic is visiting Cairo as a member of a Serbian government delegation headed by PM Djuro Macut.
