Serbia registers 64.3 bln dinar budget deficit in January-August

BELGRADE - Between January and August this year, Serbia registered a 64.3 bln dinar budget deficit, which is 120.7 bln dinars better than a planned 185 bln deficit.
Revenues totalled 1,467.6 bln dinars, while expenditures stood at 1,531.9 bln dinars.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Finance, a 41.4 bln dinar deficit was registered in August alone.
August revenues totalled 149.6 bln dinars, while expenditures amounted to 191 bln dinars.
Tax revenues amounted to 133.8 bln dinars and were mostly comprised of VAT (70.6 bln), excise duties (31.4 bln) and corporate tax (13.9 bln).
Non-tax revenues amounted to 15 bln dinars and donations stood at 0.9 bln dinars.
In August, expenditures for employees totalled 49.2 bln dinars, transfers to the pension and disability insurance fund, the national health insurance fund, the military social insurance fund and the national employment service totalled 27.2 bln dinars, with subsidies at 24.2 bln dinars, capital expenditures at 35.7 bln, social protection at 16.8 bln, expenditures for goods and services at 13.3 bln dinars and repayment of interest at 12.5 bln dinars.
At general government level, a 55.8 bln dinar fiscal deficit and a 57.4 bln dinar primary fiscal surplus were registered in the first eight months of 2025, the ministry said.
