BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday Serbia was hoping to open a train factory with China and noted that some locations had already been offered to Chinese partners.
Vucic was speaking to reporters in Zemun at the unveiling of a new Chinese-made high-speed train.
When asked what more Serbia would get from China after becoming the first country in Europe to acquire Chinese trains, Vucic responded:
"I am hoping for a train factory and we are working on that. We are still not sufficiently prepared, but we are working on that," he said.
"We have taken them (Chinese partners) to all the locations, we offered some locations from Cuprija to Nis, Aleksinac and Kraljevo, to use what can be used in Smederevska Palanka. We will see what our Chinese friends will say," Vucic said.
He said that, three days after the Chinese team's visit to Belgrade, a Chinese delegation had come to Serbia at President Xi Jinping's behest and that several Chinese Communist Party delegations had also visited Serbia.
"We are very happy about that cooperation and we are continuing it," Vucic said.
