Vucic: National stadium to be finished by May 2027

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday the construction of the National Stadium would be completed by May 1, 2027 and that it would be the most beautiful sports facility in the region and one of the most beautiful ones in Europe.

"We will be in a race against time and build it on time. It will not be finished by December 1, 2026, but it is not a part of the EXPO project anyway. However, it will be finished by the opening of the EXPO," Vucic said at the opening of the eGovernment House and the Lozionica ("Boiler Room") Centre, responding to questions from reporters about the opposition's objections concerning the construction of the National Stadium.

"Those who are now making objections about the construction of the National Stadium used to say there are many things Serbia will never do," he said.

"I would also remind you (of what they said) about flying taxis - we will have them, as well as flying cars, for the EXPO," Vucic said.
