BELGRADE - Works on implementing the Leap Into the Future - Serbia 2027 programme will be completed by December 2026 and the cost of constructing new fair grounds, an expo site and a residential district for EXPO 2027 is estimated at 2.5 bln euros, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic said on Friday.

"The complex is designed as multifunctional space that, in addition to expo space for EXPO 2027, will also include accompanying commercial and accommodation capacities. All accompanying content needs to ensure logistical support to enable the entire area to evolve into a major economic and tourism centre for Belgrade and Serbia," Vesic told Blic.

He said the 18 bln euro Serbia 2027 programme was the biggest-ever development project in the country and was very important for Serbia's international partners.

Vesic also said Serbia's FDI inflow was expected to total around 5 bln euros in 2024 and noted that, in the period between the beginning of the year and March 20, it had reached an all-time high of 1.172 bln euros.
