BELGRADE - Never give up and always fight until the end, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday in a message to Youth Sports Games (YSG) participants at a ceremony at which legendary German former footballer Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was named new YSG ambassador.

"When you are losing, never think you are done. Never give up as long as the match is on. Fight and play until the end because, if you fight, you can always win," Vucic said at Belgrade's Sava Centre.

He said he was certain the entire region would be doing much better once the YSG principles of tolerance, mutual love and respect were embraced throughout it.

Rummenigge, a former Germany international and current UEFA and Bayern Munich official, has joined the large family of YSG ambassadors, which includes UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and former footballers Predrag Mijatovic and Nemanja Vidic.

Rumenigge, who played for Bayern Munich against Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Cup in 1979, said he was glad to be back in Belgrade.

He said he had five children and eight grandchildren and that children were his life.

He said the YSG were a phenomenal project and that he was proud of his ambassadorial role.
